Bug description: The mob seems to be underground. This has led me to being stuck twice, once in the bottom of the cave just before the nest and now in this tree.

Hello,
Once you reach the nest, use your flair gun and the NPC should appear to you. If it appears underground, or you can target it but can't see it, try to relog and clear Cache.

I tried relogging. I hate that I have to clear the cache so often because it resets my UI and it's already bad enough that some parts of it randomly get reset anyway which has never happened before in my time of playing wow.

EDIT: And yes, I also used the flair gun on the nest, it doesn't "appear" unless I /tar it and then I have to look down to see it, when it should be flying above the nest.

I just did the quest. I didn't need to use the Flare Gun as Irewing was flying above the nest. So I suggest abandoning and re-taking the quest, then going to the nest and see if he's flying above without using the Flare Gun.
