It happens only when they are like 4+ windbursts at a time, when there are like 2-3 all is good.
I went to that heroic, trigger, and had 5windburst on botanist, and i had shit lag, but when they were using it like 1-2, it was allright.

It also depands on the fight as well. If you have 20 30 players in raid and you are at scorpyorn where you have constant adds that is not related to windburst.

I know it depends on fight, but there is difference between having 5-10 less FPS, and having 1 fps for first 15 seconds of encounter.

I've said it countless times. Windburst is a fabulous spell which brings hunters to the top. Most people think it's a damage spell, when in fact it's an activator to one of the most OP bursts(if critical strike decides to help you).

Regarding the FPS drops, like Brigadee said, more than 1-2 Windbursts in a raid should suffice for mythic raids. I'll bring a little disturbing facts that will show why many players have issue with this spell:
1. Freakz is a free server to play on. People downloaded the client, therefore players tend to have low spec PC's. Being able to pay the subscription on retail means one thing: you have the rig capable of running the game in an optimized state.
2. The spell caused issues on retail at first, but was later fixed. All Quicksand can do is remove the particles or the player can use this command: /console graphicsparticledensity 0.1 . If this doesn't work, try limiting your FPS, instead of unlimited or a ridiculous amount. ( Low specs trying to get 120 default FPS)

I cannot reduce anything further, only option left is to remove the entire visual part. Sindragosa works the exact same way, I copy-pasted its script, and made even better optimizations, so as I said, if you lag, you'd probably lag on retail as well. I play with unlimited fps with a pretty decent rig, I get around 200FPS on base, casting windburst almost never affects my fps, maybe it drops to 199 or 198, but that's just not even a thing.

I can confirm I have no issues with wind-burst. Even when 2-3 hunters around me cast it. I think this is clearly due to low rigs with too high of settings.

Also the fps drop feels harder when you are in the area affected by the visual not by the visual itself, maybe it has to do with the buff/debuffs it applies?
