I just thought of this f2p vs p2p, questioning

why do some people play p2p rather then f2p?

Reason I asked this is simple, why would someone throw money out of there pockets for a game. When they don't have too? I am a f2p overall type player.

True, it does make alot of sense to an extent. But overall I am thinking this from what you posted, I would say I am old school on games..... Hell I am anti new gen/new games for the mass of the time. if I may ask Sovereign, are you old school or new gen type player? Reason I asked you this is I play ps2, due to its actually challenging and its not casual friendly.

F2P games usually have a "premium" feature or sell items for real money. As long as a F2P game doesn't become a Pay2Win game i'm OK with it .

I'm A f2p player too but I know that if you want something good there's no other way than p2p, that's why I have a retail account. Also ppl on f2p games are much more retarded than on p2p games.
I embrace both, old and new school.

P.S. I didn't payed anything for my retail account, only buyed MOP and 2 months GC.

d3 is not worth the money its shit...try path of exile...its free and better and has constant updates...u can pay to gave visual stuff...its one of those f2p games that rly offer massive supports and updates

For this reason also I first pirate games and if I like them I buy them to support the developer.

That makes sense, I guess I haven't really came across a game that caught my eye, to me it seems mass of new games are either clone of an older game or a cut up modified version of an older game with few exceptions game wise/game engine wise. I always been fond of unreal but ya to the point. I have't seen a game that made me say, I want to play that game.... perks of being anti new games/consoles xD

While I agree on the quality of player base, I have to say that there are good f2p games (one example is planetside 2, yes it still has bugs, but even there it beats lots of p2p games).

The key here is to let players obtain everything they can buy by just playing the game (and maybe let some customization only for paying players).

Now, in this thread seems some bring up the discussion of private servers versus retail servers. Here there is no question, retail will always beat the crap out of private servers from (bugs and quality). As with any painting, you can reproduce it, but there will be differences (in our case big differences). So with that in mind the reasons someone would pick payed servers are obvious and the reasons why someone would play for free can vary (friends, lack of money, the need for something different, etc)
