arcane mages do insane amounts of damage?

I was doing battlegrounds on my hunter, which has 4,1k resilience (40.9% damage reduction)
and i still got litterally oneshotted by this arcane mage.

this screenshot shows the damage of one ability (cooldowns popped, but still)

in comparison to other full cataclysmic geared classes, arcane mages do insane amounts of damage..

i talked with a couple people in the battleground and they stated it was a bug that is being abused to do this kind of dmg. can something be done about this?

First of all, I see that you haven't heard of Poorguy, well, bad for you.
Arcane is doing quite a lot of damage, but it's been like that since forever, most common answer would be - "Deal with it."

lul im wondering same thing, if arcane mages are legit, like 10 mins ago was doing 2s , dk/hpaly. My dk has 5150~ resil, he got globaled by backpedaling arcane mage cuz of some random crits

LoS/counter his oneshot macro then rape him (silence shot/scatter/pet intrerrupt/feign death/deterrence/or the good old slow/disengage and wait for cds to wear off on him then rape)?

In battlegrounds you can't always watch everything (especially if he's spamming noggenfogger) so you have an excuse to get one shoted, but in arenas....losing to an arcane mage is just like losing to a blood dk.

3500 retail gladiator on sight! You probably don't know how does it feel when we mortal humans get surprised by 2 mages.

yea, the arcane mages do INSANE amounts of damage. Buuuuut, here's the secret: you train them/intrerupt them, they do NOTHING at all. If an arcane cant cast his arcane blasts, he's nothing, you reduce him to potato damage. I'm playing arcane mage as an alt, and i know what i'm sayin. I obliterate full cata geared noobs if they let me cast and dont los, but i get stomped by people who intrerupt and cc me.

one tiny little piece of advice: you see the magster pop all his cooldowns, you cc the *** out of that thing, and if you cant CC, pop all defensives even though you are high hp. Damage reduction cd's like barkskin, shield wall, AMshell,pain suppresion are the biggest counters to an arcane mage.

As a ~21.50 mastery arcane *** i critted 103k on a poor 1k resil shammy, plus a 30k arcane barrage. Oneshotted. Still there are arena matches in which i do no damage, due to being cc'd, los'd and intrerupted. Also, if you're a priest fear his clones.

So you want to tell me that Arcane mage can be easily countered? It's easy on words,but actions are kinda hard to think of.Seems like you haven't played against a decent rogue and arcane mage or atleast just an arcane mage.PoM sheep the healer then the rogue comes with stunlock and mage actualy spam arcane blasts combined with all the cds/procs possible and they can actually reset and cc like np.Please play against decent arcane mage cuz you guys actually look so stupid giving random arguments about how shit the spec is just because you've only seen arcane mages backpedalling in middle of arena with Helm and Cloak shown.

i just gave him a few tips about how to win against an arcane mage, thats all. I know its hard to survive against the burst, but its not impossible. sub+arcane is the comp with the biggest burst ingame. Fighting against a decent arcane+rogue implies you're also skilled, so you have to pull out some tricks too to mitigate their utterly retarded overpowered oneshotting burst.

I think you misunderstood me, i was just pointing out the obvious, the fact that most of the arcane mages are bad at the game and they only know how to burst and hope to win.

In the screenshot, that mage critted so hard because i bet he used all his cooldowns+talent procs combined with the berserker buff and mastery trinkets. God knows how much mastery he had...

TL;DR: yea, arcane mages can oneshot, but it's been like that since TBC.
