As the title says, I was wondering if being an alch nowadays is worth it, because I noticed that golden lotus herbs (reagent for crafting flasks) is a super rare item, that just has a few spawns around Pandaria and it has a huge respawn time.
Someone may say that they also benefit from potions or transmutations (that don't require golden lotus) but I played a lot of cata and in that expansion flasks were the only real thing you could do as an alchemist to earn some gold, and I don't know if it's the same in the mop.

Thanks!

I'll also add a poll with the three alchemist specializations so you can also help me a bit if you dont want to comment.

Hello,
you can also get golden lotuses for spirits of harmonies which are easy to get since LFR mode has been fixed.

Greetings Arnaux95198,
In my opinion the most important specialization is flasks making, becouse you can make a ton of gold if you use a tracking addon for herbs, also you can buy 2x golden lotus for 1 spirit of harmony, which is easy to achieve via LFR. Also the flasks and potions specialization are very important in a raid, i didn't find so much utility of transmutations in my alchemist career.
Cheers, Daeron.

Transmutation is great at the beginning of a new raid tier as there is craftable gear (mainly plate) that requires a lot of living steel so having a bunch of them is a key to get very rich as the price of those craftable gear will be insanely high at first. However it becomes less and less benefical as we move forward so at some point you will have to switch if that is even possible. Other than that, you should choose in coordination with potential guilds mates so you can cover every specialization.

One thing to consider is the bonus for your character, nearly every profession have a bonus stats to give, here it's roughly 400 INT/STR/AGI depending of your spec (for the unique mini-flask usable at will) or the flask you use.

However the main issue with Alchemy is that it relies on both Mining and Herbalism to be fully used. Not having these two professions will make the life tough.

Mixology. You have to drink 2 Times less flasks (egoistic pov -)
