Prot warr threat generation problem ?

Hello guys,

I've experienced low threat generating on prot warrior. My threat gen. was same as I was in fury or arms , so as a DPS. Anyone have or had the same problem ?

Hey , i'm mainly playing Prot warrior for over 3 years on freakz and tbh i didn't have any Probs when it comes to gaining threat when i'm tanking.

No no don't worry I'm not that dumb It was +4 with sanguine and raid (en hc). I don't know maybe it will be back to normal soon.

Maybe someone in your group is doing way more damage , just try to hit the adds b4 anyone else on your group , keep thunderclap on cd and u should be fine

There maybe a couple of things to explain about what's going on with aggro and how it turns out to be working on freakz which i struggle to be accurate with because i don't really play tank ever since i left in early 2017 for the DPS role.

Anyway, threat works as contantly moving thing that just goes stronger and stronger over the course of a fight so it can effectively be hard to build that up in the first seconds. Now why is this hard at first is because you inhrently deal less damage than DPSers and they often bring out the bigs guns right off the bat so let's say that at 3 seconds of combat you deal 100k damage and that one of your DPS deals over 1m1 damage at the same time then you will lose aggro.

That being said, this can be remedied. You can decide to show your own big guns too but also be using the pre-port technique to enhance your damages at the beginning of the fight and last but not least you can use Taunt to generate even more threat during that time when the target is affected by the taunt debuff.

On a side note, you should away assess whichever tanks in your raid has the more DPS so that you can avoid aggro losses from your DPS but also from the other tank. And make sure Rogues and Hunters didn't get the target of they aggro manipulation tools wrong.

Perhaps the whole threat mechanic is not on point here but since DPS is essentially based on gear then you will eventually get less and less cases of aggro loss because your gear will slowly reach other's in terms of ilvl.

I have 881 for prot I'm doing like 300k constant dps with prot. It's not like I'm new to the class i played it since classic but it not seem working properly there for some reason. I build up threat quickly, I keep up thunderclap everytime but but on AoE I'm still losing aggro. I don't know I reroled to Fury and I lvled up guardian druid. For now. But hey thanks all.

Well some mechanics changed but tbf I have more threat on warr then pala so, maybe something in the rotation , or some dps misscliking agrro
