@dreadblade what about crit unholy? I saw a lot of people playing with crit for soul reaper, mainly for phd or tsg.

I've never heard of DKs prioritising crit over mastery, and it sounds too RNG-ish to me.

As for crit vs haste, I already said it's up to your playstyle.

First of all, that 20% haste from Unholy Presence is only viable if you have an uptime of at least 70% on your target, else if you're getting kited all the time, you will have runes ready but you won't be able to spend them, so it's pretty much a waste of stats. In this case it would be better to go mastery + crit for more passive (aka disease) and ranged (aka death coil / gargoyle) damage. And even if haste is viable against melee cleaves, most good teams will likely immediately switch to you as soon as you go in Unholy Presence. If you really want that haste I still think it's better to reforge haste and gem full strength so that you're able to stay in Blood Presence, and then occasionally switch to Unholy Presence during your own burst.

Secondly, you gem full crit just for soul reaper? And what if it does NOT crit? If you want to maximize its damage, wouldn't it just be better to always have it deal ~15% more damage from mastery? And either way a target with enough necros + soul reaper + kill shot or execute has almost no chance of surviving regardless of your soul reaper critting or not. Not to mention all the strength and attack power you're going to loose -> less powerful necros... if the absorb amount would've been able to crit (i.e. have a chance to absorb 60k instead of 30k from one hit) it would've been more viable.

Each to his own, I suppose. I prefer going mastery+crit, currently my soul reaper is hitting in PvP for 96k and critting up to 200k, and I really like kiting other melees when my runes are on cooldown, so mastery helps me by increasing DoT and death coil damage.
