Adding the features from pandaria for xmog would be really nice and many people will like the idea.

Nah, I don't think it's a good idea, it would only be more confusing. You'd see a dagger spawn a tentacle in the arenas/BGs, or warriors wielding a staff in each hand. Even tho it's fun, I'd still say no.

Well it's not that flexible:

"Transmogrification rules have been broadened for several weapon types.
Two-handed axes, maces, and swords can be Transmogrified to each other.
One-handed axes, maces, and swords can be Transmogrified to each other.
Staves and polearms can be transmogrified to each other."

On the topic of transmog suggestions I'de like to say the idea of adding Transmog only items without stats for models only would work well here.
Could add them to vote/donation shop and possibly from RDF satchels.

To be clearer for those who don't understand its currently in place at another server I wont name but I will link a pic so you get the idea.

Adds the option of transmogs without the hassle(or pleasure?) of obtaining the rare item itself.

Ashbringer ain't that appealing to me as the Corrupted one is.
The "warrior head" (kek) can be easily obtained by going to BWD and killing Maloriak on hc. Or voting/donating.
The staff is simply fugly.

But I get the idea, and I think it's just too much work for just a few items that will probably be too expensive so it's better just to stick to the old transmog.
