Bug description: All legendary meta gems are not supposed to work in BGs or Arenas. In patch 5.2, Tyrannical was the best PvP gear, so PvE gear got downscaled to 496 in PvP environments. The legendary meta gems require an item level of at least 502, so they would have no effect once the helm got downscaled to 496 (since it no longer met the ilvl requirement). In the next patches, when new gear was added (Grievous), Blizzard could no longer rely on the downscale method so they had to disable them. Currently on Freakz we have Grievous gear so PvE gets downscaled to 522.

Proof: I have no actual proof of this, so I'd like if people started doing a bit of research. I couldn't really find solid evidence about the downscale part, since most threads I could find were post-patch 5.4

Either way, in my opinion the gems should be disabled. If we're going to use 5.4 PvP gear then we should go along with the rest of the PvP changes as well.

This is not an actual argument, I hope anyone knows we won't implement fixes like this. But if anyone finds proof that downscaled PvE gear causes the gem to not proc anymore, then please post

I did some major research about this aspect but the information on this aspect is very scarce.. so I only got bits and pieces to paint the bigger picture.

So from what I gathered.. this is how it was:
1. The meta gems worked in PvP enviroment until patch 5.4.2 into grievous season
2. You can only soecket them into a ilvl 502+ head piece.
3. They were introduced in the Tyrannical season.. and during that time you can't put it into a Tyrannical headpiece because of the 496 ilvl.
5. You could still socket it into a 502+ non upgraded pve item. If it was let's say 498 upgraded to 502 it didn't work.
But using pve head over pvp head, you would loose a big chunk of pvp resilience and pvp power. diring that time there was still pvp resilience on gear(on this I'm not 100% sure)
6. Even with the downcale to 496, the gem still proced on players in arenas and bgs.
7. The proc chance on players was much lower.
I searched for hours yesterday for more info on the proc chance on players but I coun't find solid nombers besides a lot of people saying that it has a much lower chance to proc in pvp.
One or two persons said that it had a 25% chance taken from the base proc chance. For example if a meta has 50% proc chance than against players it should have a 10% proc chance.
Another person said that the healing meta gem proced on average 3 times every 10 minutes and the 30% haste meta proced in average onece every 2 minutes.
8. The proc is dispelable and could be spellstealed by mages

Because of this very few people actually used them in arenas during the tyrannical season.
What more people used was the 20% dmg reduction meta for healers vs RMx comps and hope to proc in the opener.

With that being said.. I think that the harm was already done and there is no going back from this.
A really big number of players bought it to be OP in arenas and they already soketed their Grievous headpiece with it. So they will be very disappointed if it wouldn't work anymore.

Honestly I bought capacitor for my two monks but I don't want to play with it.(but I will have to if everyone else is using it)

Look at them, you can't find any "meta gems"

Again, we play with 5.4.8 formulas, so it should be nice if we could play with all the fixes/hotfix, (because they were implemented for the good sake of PvP/PvE, as blizzard try until that to "test" them, but we already know how they work and how they can make an UNBALANCED PvP), Anyways they were made for PvE not for PvP.. so let's use them correctly.


Don't get me wrong guys, but PvP is very unbalanced right now, I mean a healer with that gems (proc 20% def..) is not like a PvP should be, there are already so many complaints about these gems..


If I'm wrong (but I don't think I'am) just say it, but with some proof.

I'm sure Shockeru will find a solution for this problem with PvP legendary meta gems, but if not, they should not proc in arena anymore.

Imagine that this is the melee meta with this low proc chance(the melee should proc more often than the other metas) and he builds stacks too slow. In my opinion metas should be disabled in pvp, or they should have a much lower proc chance on players(see the video).

Deci Shocker ce ai de gand sa faci? Eu de exemplu o am pe cateva chars deja si am donat doar pt pvp si as vrea sa o mai iau pe inca 2-3. Asta desigur daca nu ii dai disable. Oricare ar fi raspunsul, zi-ne si noua sa stim ce avem de facut.
